This is to inform you about the new US travel guideline and order in view of controlling the spread of the COVID19 pandemic.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order announcing the requirement that all passengers arriving to the United States from a foreign country via air must present a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19.
This directive will be effective from 26th January 2021 and below is a short summary of the requirement.
CDC Order Summary:
- A negative pre-departure COVID-19 test during the 3 calendar days preceding the flight’s departure from a foreign country OR
- A written or electronic documentation of a positive viral test result that confirms the passenger had a previous COVID-19 infection and a letter from a licensed health care provider or public health official stating the passenger is cleared to travel (so-called “Documentation of Recovery”)
- A mandatory test is a nucleic acid amplification test or a viral antigen test
- The above requirement is mandatory for all passengers (2 years of age & above) arriving in the US points of arrival (air)
- Carrying airlines are also required to verify that every passenger – 2 years of age or older – has attested to receiving a negative test or has recovered from COVID-19 and is cleared to travel
- A copy of each passengers attestation per the above requirement will be held by carrying airlines for 2 years
- Parents or other authorized individuals will be responsible to attest on behalf of passengers aged 2 to 17 or who are unable to attest on their own behalf
- Passengers must retain a copy of their negative test or Documentation of Recovery and present it for inspection at arrival upon request
