If you are in or around the BecA Hub this week, you may notice the photographer Chris de Bode discreetly peeking about and taking pictures. Chris is a well-known Dutch photographer who has traveled and exhibited widely over the years, often on behalf of the world’s leading NGOs, on subjects ranging from Ebola and the girls of Boko Haram to the extinction of lemurs in Madagascar. He is visiting ILRI this week at the behest of the CGIAR system. His site is here: http://www.chrisdebode.com; I encourage you to check it out.
The CG system commissioned de Bode to capture visual stories of the work of the Centers. Their goal is to increase the brand visibility of CGIAR and to connect funders more intimately to the work they support.
Through a photography and audio-visual installation, de Bode will tell the story of CGIAR scientists and researchers, and how their work improves the lives of smallholder farmers and rural communities around the world.
His work will be first setup at the World Food Prize and then at the System Council meeting at the Gates Foundation headquarters in Seattle. Photos will have shared credit (CGIAR and Chris de Bode) and will be open access – published on Flickr.
De Bode will be spending two days researching and taking photographs at the BecA Hub on Wednesday and Thursday and then three full days at the climate-smart villages and houses in Nyando, including the small ruminant program.
