Changes in the Communications and Knowledge Management Unit

Due to a reorganization within the CKM Unit teams in Addis Ababa and Nairobi, the following changes (below) will come into effect on 1 February.

For the details on all the services provided at CKM and those responsible see: https://ilri-comms.wikispaces.com/CKM+transition+responsibilities

ILRI subscriptions

ILRI has significantly increased the number of journals included in its Elsevier and CGIAR-wide subscriptions to 2,400 plus journals. Staff on the Nairobi and Addis campuses will be able to access these services directly. Staff in other locations should ensure they are registered by sending their CGIAR emails to Wilson Maina (w.maina@cgiar.org).

For further information on the journals included in the new subscription offer or troubleshooting in accessing these services, please contact Wilson Maina.

Infocentre: registration and renewal and general support

For information and assistance in accessing infocentre services in Addis Ababa and Nairobi (registration of users, issuance of ID cards, and rental of meeting room in Addis Ababa only), contact

  • Parmilia Yeshitella (p.yeshitella@cgiar.org) in Addis Ababa
  • Wilson Maina (w.maina@cgiar.org) in Nairobi

ILRI design services will be provided by the team in Addis Ababa. However, infocentre staff will no longer provide printing services for ILRI and non-ILRI staff. Users will be expected to make their own arrangements.

For event facilitation services

Those seeking support for event facilitation services, please contact:

  • Tsehay Gashaw (t.gashaw@cgiar.org) for event facilitation at ILRI. In cases where Tsehay is unable to provide direct assistance, you will be provided with a list of external consultants. We will be working on expanding this list in the near future.

For event documentation services

Those seeking support for event documentation services, please contact:

  • Beamlak Tesfaye (b.tesfaye@cgiar.org) for event documentation in Addis Ababa
  • Wilson Maina (w.maina@cgiar.org) for event documentation in Nairobi
  • Apollo Habtamu (a.habtamu@cgiar.org) for photographic and video support in Addis Ababa. We are currently working on building a list of external consultants for events in Nairobi. In the interim, Apollo Habtamu or Paul Karaimu (p.karaimu@cgiar.org) will provide support for major events.
