The latest version of the ILRI style guide by the Communications and Knowledge Management Unit is available on the ILRI Comms wiki.
The guide is designed to ensure consistency within and across Institute publications, in language usage, visual composition, orthography and typography. Its primary purpose is to promote best practice in:
- ethics (authorship, open access, research ethics and disclosure);
- pedagogy (exposition and clarity); and
- compliance (technical and regulatory).
The specific changes in this edition seek to bring about more clarity in the referencing of publications, and in the use of capital letters and punctuation. The guide also provides a list of the new CGIAR Research Programs and how they should be correctly cited.
Insofar as possible, scientists—and/or embedded communications staff—are encouraged to adopt these guidelines. Their adoption will speed up the editorial process, offering scientists clear styles to follow, thereby reducing the cost of editorial services at ILRI.
The guide can also be found directly on the ILRI repository, CGSpace at: http://hdl.handle.net/10568/33429
