Update on the Compensation and Benefits Project

Dear colleagues,

As you may recall, the Director General gave an overview of the purpose and progress of the Compensation and Benefits project in his town hall address in November 2016.

We thank the many staff members who have so far availed themselves in the various sessions held to support the development of the technical and behavioral competencies for both research and support functions as well as development of job families and career paths for support functions, which were part of Phase 1 of the project. While attendance to the sessions has not always been to the desired optimal level in every session, we encourage those who shall be called upon in future, to attend and contribute.

During the year 2017, we shall embark on Phase 2 of the project, which is anticipated to run up to October 2017 and shall entail socialization of the competency framework/job family model, standardization of ILRI job descriptions, the development of a new Job Evaluation system, a compensation and benefits market survey as well as development of the Employee Value Proposition (EVP). These inputs shall inform the review of the ILRI Human Resources Policy Manual.

Thanking you once again for your continued support to the success of this important organizational development project.

With best regards,

Stella Kiwango | Director People and Organizational Development
