I would like to introduce Phil Sambati, who has recently joined ILRI as an instructional design specialist in the capacity development unit.

Phil’s background is in teaching and ICT, and has worked in adult education for nearly 20 years in one form or another which has included a lot of time in the classroom as well as systems administration, web development, cloud computing, e-learning authoring, mobile learning tools including protocols like; SMS, USSD,IVR and app development as well as mobile first learning content.

Phil will be based in Nairobi, which he knows well from a previous 4 year posting in Kenya with another organization, and says that it is good to be back. He worked around SSA on digital projects focusing in particular on mobile learning which has been a large part of his experience here in SSA.

Phil’s role will support a number of projects and flagships of the Livestock CRP, and will bring to bear experience and knowledge around learning psychology, blended and online learning and educational technology as well as other complementary skills such as graphic design and user experience design and information architecture.
