New procurement policy and practice guidelines

Dear all,

In order to improve the procurement services institute wide, the supply chain unit is happy to hereby present the new updated procurement policy.

It is now better catered for a more modern and pragmatic procurement process, by including On-line purchasing, use of credit cards, higher thresholds and more possibilities for fast single sourcing, like working with preferred suppliers.

The unit will also significantly improve the communication with their clients, by having dedicated Procurement Officers appointed per program/unit and providing weekly updates of all orders.

All procurement will be centralized in the 2 units (Nairobi & Addis) so that the unit can work in a team, learn, fill in, rotate and so provide better and faster services.

The new policy can be found on our intranet (link= http://hdl.handle.net/10568/67746 ),and to give you a faster idea, please find hereby attached a short summary of it, containing the main topics.

If you already have questions, please feel free to contact the supply chain managers, Richard Basil (NBI), Habtamu Fekadu (ADD) and/or our HoF, Robert Nzioka

To give you an even better opportunity to ask questions, we will organise an official ‘roll out’ presentation in both compounds, to which you are all welcome.

This will happen probably in the last week of September (exact date TBC soon).

Some of the things will take some time to get fully in place (like preferred suppliers), but I am very confident that these changes are the right way forward and will provide a much better balance between compliance and service, making you soon all enjoy the benefits thereof..

Kind regards and have a nice weekend
