National staff appointments: Islamabad, January – June 2016

Muhammad Shakeel Ashraf joined the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as a dairy research associate in January 2016. His role in this position is to conduct different research trials for the developmMuhammad Shakeel Ashrafent of dairy sector. Shakeel is an animal nutritionist and has worked as a researcher in animal nutrition at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan. In the recent past, his research has focused on alternative feed resources (citrus pulp) for an economical animal production, which was a major component of his MSc research project. In his current position as dairy research associate in the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), he is focusing on water and balanced feeding to dairy animals.

 

ZZahid Manzoorahid Manzoor joined the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as a dairy research associate in January 2016. His role in this position is to conduct research on the improvement of dairy productivity, assist to identify key technical (feeding, breeding, health) options for improving productivity, carry out and supervise on‐farm research and assist to design and test appropriate delivery mechanisms for improved input and service provision. Zahid is an Animal Husbandry specialist and has worked as Farm Production Advisor in Pakistan Dairy Development Company (PDDC) for 5 years. He obtained his post graduate diploma “International Diploma Dairy Husbandry and Milk Processing”  from PTC+, The Netherlands. He also has hands on experience in dairy farm management and feeding the dairy animals. In the recent past, his research has focused on feeding strategies to enhance milk production in indigenous cattle and buffalo of Pakistan. He is also working on introduction of improved forage seeds and best agronomic practices at small holder dairy farmer level in Pakistan.
