Get Active Now!
It is said that the hardest step for any runner is the first step out of the door.
And with the 15th edition of the Great Ethiopian Run International 10km Road Race only six weeks away, the time has come to take that step.
Great Ethiopian Run is truly excited about our November race. As usual there will be the unmatched combination of running and celebration, which our races have become known for. Many of you will be veterans to this road race, and will be aiming for another medal to add to your collection.
For some of you, it may be your first attempt to run a race or this distance. Perhaps running was something you did as a child, quite some time in the past.
This is your chance to achieve something you never thought you would!
The American marathon runner, John Bingham, famously said, “The miracle is not that I finished the race, but that I had the courage to start.”
To ensure you find the courage to start, here is some advice to help you take the first few steps in your training and make your journey to race day more enjoyable.
Get Active Now– Not tomorrow, make it today. Begin with walking if running has not been your habit. Take the stairs rather than the elevator, walk rather than take the bus.
- Set yourself goals – and make them achievable. Don’t expect to run 10k straight off, if you are not used to running regularly.
- Make your training a social event – Running with a friend will help you keep motivated, make it more fun, and ensure you keep the appointment.
Great Ethiopian Run wants your race day to be as enjoyable and as memorable as possible, so start your training today. And remember, every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.
