ILRI and ReSAKSS-ECA bid farewell to Maurice Ogada

MauriceOn 9 October 2015, the staff of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Policy, Trade and Value Chain (PTVC) and Regional strategic Analysis and knowledge Support System for East and Central Africa (ReSAKSS-ECA) teams and from the Research Methods and Food Safety and Zoonoses program, bade farewell to Maurice Ogada, an economist with the ReSAKSS-ECA program.
Ogada joined ILRI PTVC under ReSAKSS-ECA program in 2011. He worked in policy research in agriculture, trade, natural resource management and environment. In this period, he contributed to key research including:

  • A climate change synthesis report on the status of climate change research in the Common market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region and the extent to which government and regional interventions in climate change adaptation and mitigation are guided by climate science.
  • Organizing, in collaboration with the COMESA secretariat, the National Agricultural Policy Forum 1.
  • Trends and outlook reports on key agriculture and rural development indicators for Kenya and COMESA.
  • Building capacity for Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of Congo Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (DRC SAKSS) nodes, and guiding on production of trends and outlook reports on key agriculture and rural development indicators for the respective countries.
  • Setting indicators for evaluating the success/failure of agricultural sector interventions.
  • Evaluation of impact of cross-border trade in East Africa on household welfare
