The Zebu Club Advisory Committee is Accepting Online Nominations
for Invited Members
As you may recall, the Zebu Club Advisory Committee announced a period for accepting nominations for invited membership to the Zebu Club from existing Zebu Club staff members. Twenty-five places were available, 15 nominations were received, and 9 were found to meet the criteria by the membership sub-committee. There are an additional 16 spaces available for 2015, and the committee is reopening the call for nominations through the rest of the year. Nominations will be reviewed on a first-come first-serve basis. If the sub-committee determines that the nomination meets the criteria, it will accept the membership until the remaining spaces are filled for 2015.
New Zebu Club Guidelines
The new Zebu Club guidelines have been posted at the Zebu Club and also may be found on the Zebu Wiki site: http://zebu-club.wikispaces.com/Club_Guidelines
Purpose of the Club
The Club was established as a way to promote social and sporting activities for ILRI & CGIAR staff, their dependents and visitors to the Institute. It is also open to invited members from the diplomatic community, international organizations, NGOs and other partners who are instrumental in the research activity of ILRI or who have similar status with that of ILRI. By similar status is meant those organizations with a comparable position to ILRI per our hosting agreement with the government of Ethiopia. In general this refers to UN agencies and specialized agencies of the UN. Overall, the Club plays an important role in stimulating interaction and collaboration with the larger research and development community in Ethiopia.
ILRI/CGIAR Zebu Club Members may Nominate “Invited Members” through the end of the year
Campus staff who are currently members of the Zebu Club may nominate up to two people to become “invited members” of the Zebu Club. The Zebu Club Advisory Committee has determined that there are 25 open places for invited members this year. The membership sub-committee will review the nominations, verify they are qualified, and offer membership on a first-come first serve basis for the remaining open places.
Per the guidelines, please note the following:
- Nominations must come from campus staff who are currently paid-up members of the Zebu Club
- Each nomination must have two sponsors who are campus staff Zebu Club members. (Campus staff may sponsor/nominate up to two invited members per year.)
- The nominated person must fulfill one of two criteria:
- S/he must be instrumental in the research activity of ILRI/CGIAR
- S/he must belong to an organization with a similar status of ILRI (as described above). You must include a letter from their employer in the nomination.
- Nominations must be made online at https://ilri.org/node/39957 and will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
