In order to improve efficiency, quality and especially the Service of our team, we are reorganizing the Nairobi finance department as per August 10th
The idea is to shift from a task oriented department to a customer-oriented one, whereby group of accountants perform and share a wide range of tasks together for a specific group of customers (programmes/departments).
So the Nairobi Finance Unit will be split into four groups/units;
i) Finance for Integrated Sciences programs
ii) Finance for Biosciences programs (and CRP reporting)
iii) Finance for Support units & others (hosted organizations, Regional offices, Kapiti)
iv) General Accounting
Each unit will be headed by a manager with 3 or 4 accountants reporting to him/her and will fully handle ALL finance support functions for their group of customers. E.g. supplier payments, travel payments & advances, staff accounts, Due Diligence, FCR check, partner management, project Audits, donor reporting etc. The general accounting unit is handling all other finance tasks, like institutional audits, payroll, FCR allocation, treasury, Institutional management accounts etc.
The manager will be the main point of contact for the customers. This means that for all finance matters of your program/department you can always contact the same person. This manager will also be in close contact with PMO and PA, meeting regularly to discuss burn rates, reports and how to improve overall quality & service.
The managers will be:
- Finance Manager – Integrated Sciences = Symon Chebor ext. 3249
- Finance Manager – Biosciences = Stella Ikileng ext. 3287
- Finance Manager – Support Units & others =Benjamin Ashuma. Ext. 3272
- General Accounting Manager = Anne Kibe Ext. 3818.
The Finance managers’ report to the Head of Finance Robert Nzioka ext. 3245 in case you need to escalate any issue.
Like this (combined with OCS),we hope to serve all clients, faster and better and make communications far easier for everyone.
So please, from August 10th onwards, communicate all requests and questions through your allotted Finance Manager.
After a few months we will evaluate this new structure and decide upon a possible similar set up for our Addis Finance department.
