The housing, catering, and conferencing (HCC) staff have done their best to avoid increasing prices in the cafeteria for nearly four years. At the same time, the cost of food and labor to run the cafeteria has continued to increase every year including sharp food price increases experienced from 2014 to 2015. The introduction of weekly health & safety inspections by our new Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety Officer on the Ethiopia campus has also led the unit to improve health and safety practices in the kitchen as well as to invest in additional infrastructure and equipment. At the same time, the recent survey conducted by the HCC unit indicates that staff are demanding better quality food and more variety.
We are committed to keeping the cafeteria food prices as low as possible for staff. At the same time, we are required to run administrative services on a full cost-recovery basis. In order to do this, it is important that we review these prices and make adjustments on an annual basis. Effective 1 August the HCC unit will implement price increases to the cafeteria menu. At the same time, more variety will gradually be introduced to the menu. As HCC rolls out the improved menu, they look forward to receiving your feedback. A feedback form is provided at the checkout in the cafeteria. Please take time to fill out the questionnaire from time to time to give general feedback or targeted feedback on a specific menu item or experience.
