ICT unit has plan to move user mailboxes to CGNET at California. The reason behind this move is to enhance the availability of the email system over the public network (the internet), with improved efficiency and security. In addition, the arrangement helps to minimize business continuity risks attributed to reliance on local Exchange system administration.
ILRI Nairobi has already moved user mailboxes to CGNET for over a year time. Many CG centers have also moved to this hosted email service earlier. From Addis, we have moved mailboxes of some of our frequently travelling staffs for some time and they are working fine so far.
We will implement this migration over the months of June, July and part of August, 2015 starting from June 10, 2015. For simplicity of administration, we will manage to migrate up to 20 to 30 mailboxes in a batch during evening time. We will communicate to the mailbox owners the detail schedule ahead of time and also the success/failure of the migration process.
Please keep the size of your mailbox as small as possible by regularly archiving your mailbox. This will help to speed up the migration process with increased success rate.
We appreciate your kind cooperation and apologies for the inconvenience this may cause to you.
Thank you,
