On behalf of the Livestock Systems and Environment program, I invite you to join us on 16 April 2015 at the ILRI Nairobi Mazingira Centre from 1400 to 1600 hours for the Mazingira Environmental Research Centre open day. This state-of-the-art environmental research Centre enables scientists to measure emissions from a full range of sources in Kenya and Africa as a whole, including livestock; manure management systems; smallholder farms; and land uses such as forests, tea and timber plantations. The centre is a joint collaboration between the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).

The Open day will give an exposure of the ongoing research on measuring a set of environmental parameters including livestock system greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), water flows as well as water and soil quality. Participants will also have a chance to tour the facility which is the only one of its kind in Africa.

2.00 to 3.00 PM-Presentation seminar at Ndama lounge
3.00 to 4.30 PM- Lab tour of the Mazingira centre
4.30- cocktail reception at the poolside

A networking coffee will follow thereafter.
