CIMMYT new taff in Ethiopia – Tesfaye Balemi

Dear Colleagues,

CIMMYT-Ethiopia is glad to introduce Tesfaye Balemi who joined CIMMYT as a country coordinator of TAMASA project under CIMMYT-Global Conservation Agriculture Program (GCAP), effective as of 1st February 2015. Tesfaye has multi-qualification with PhD degree in plant nutrition -Institute of Plant Nutrition, Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany (June, 2009), MSc degree in horticulture – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, India (June, 2002), BSc degree in plant sciences – Haramaya University (July, 1995) and he is multi-disciplinary with lots of research, teaching and project coordination experience. His vast work experience as director of research, consultancy and sommunity Services (> 5 years), as Dean, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (3 years) at Ambo University, is quite remarkable. In addition to the administrative positions, he was also coordinating two projects namely NICHE/ETH/09-a nuffic project on Agribusiness and Value Chain Management-financed by The Netherlands government and RELOAD (reducing losses and adding value to east African food value Chain) – a project financed by the German Ministry of Education and Research. He also served as Researcher at Bako Agricultural Research Center. Tesfaye has advised more than 15 MSc students and is currently advising 2 PhD students. He is a highly experienced and enthusiastic person with proven experience of working under any environment and in multi-cultural setting.
