During the week of January 12–18, 2015 the following activities will take place at ILRI:

- January 10–15: Fiona Flintan will be traveling to Cameroon with a representative from RECONCILE-Kenya, as part of the ILRI-supported International Land Coalition Global Rangelands Initiative. The visit will be hosted by local NGO MBOSCUDA and the objective is to assist MBOSCUDA and other ILC members to develop a strategy of engagement with policy/decision-makers on pastoral land issues in the country.
- On January 12, Mamusha Lemma and Dirk Hoekstra will participate and make presentations in the establishment workshop for the Oromia regional irrigated fruit and vegetable innovation platform. The workshop is jointly organized by the Oromia Irrigation Development Agency (OIDA), the Ethiopian Agriculture Transformation Agency (ATA) and the LIVES Oromia team.
- January 12–16: Fanos Mekonnen will be traveling to Tigray region to make assessment of E-book readers and use of Agricultural knowledge centers in the Central and Eastern Tigray Zones as well as the seven districts that LIVES Project operates in.
- January 12–17: Amare Haileslassie from IWMI will travel to Tigray and Amhara sites of LIVES Project to launch and undertake the irrigation scheme performance assessment studies which is developed by LIVES partner IWMI.
- January 12–17: Jimmy Smith will be in Addis Ababa.
- January 13–15: The BMZ-funded Legume CHOICE Project is holding an expert meeting at ICRAF Nairobi to develop a prototype tool for matching multi-purpose legumes to niches within smallholder farming systems. Alan Duncan, Kindu Mekonnen, Endalkachew Woldemeskel, Ben Lukuyu and Peter Ballantyne will attend from ILRI. Peter will also visit the Nairobi campus on 12 and 16 January.
- On Thursday January 15 from 12:00 noon, ILRI Addis year end staff party at the Zebu Club garden.
- January 18–23: Tadelle Dessie travels to Nairobi for a meeting.
- January 15–16: Ministry of Agricultural through Natural Resource Management Directorate in collaboration with IWMI and CARE Ethiopia organizes a National Platform on Agricultural Water Management (AWM) will take place at Lalibela Conference room in ILRI campus. The purpose of national event is to integrate sector dialogue on small-scale irrigation, soil and water conservation and other forms of water management under broader concept of Agricultural Water Management. It aimed at enhancing experience sharing and facilitating scaling up of best practices on AWM. The high-level event will bring together representatives from Government Offices, NGOs, Development Partners and Research Institutions.
- January 13: Home gardens network launch and planning workshop at the Konso auditorium.

- Starting 12th January, The Pig Value Chains Assessment will commence in Lira district.
- January 13–14: Emily Ouma together with Jo Cadilhon and a team from Shoreline Services (Uganda) will participate in a data analysis write-shop for a CTA funded project that focuses on factors influencing successful inclusion of smallholder piggery, aquaculture and banana farmers in modern value chains in Uganda to be held in Royal Suites Hotel in Bugolobi, Kampala.
- January 15–16: Kristina Roesel will facilitate the inception meeting of the new ILRI/BMZ project mPig: Mobile SMS learning for pigs – An innovative information sharing platform for smallholder pig value chain actors in Uganda in Kampala, Uganda.

- January 14: Aziz Karimov will attend R4D platform core team meeting together with HT partners such as ICRAF, AVRDC and Bioversity as well as local (FAVRI, SFRI, CASRAD and NOMAFSI) partners in Hanoi. The meeting will be devoted to issues related to official launching of Humidtropics R4D platform in the Northwest Vietnam in the month of March, 2015.
- January 14–17: Hung Nguyen will participate in the UN-Water International Conference in Zaragoza, Spain. With the theme “Water and Sustainable Development” the conference will focus on how to bring the post-2015 international agenda on water and sanitation into action.
