Ergonomics risk assessment – ILRI Addis campus

As part of ILRI Ergonomic program, EOHS is planning to carry out ergonomic risk assessment across ILRI Addis campus. The ergonomic risk assessment is designed to begin with an ergonomic awareness session which will provide information on the basic overview of the principles of ergonomics, musculoskeletal disorders and ergonomic exercises that would help one in avoiding injury problems related to poor ergonomics. The session targets all staff in ILRI Addis Campus and will be conducted by a qualified Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. The awareness session is scheduled for Monday December 1, 2014 from 9:00am to 10:00am. The venue of the awareness session will be KONSO CONFERENCE ROOM.

After the awareness, the ergonomics team will then embark on conducting the ergonomic risk assessment of all workstations within the campus. The exercise will involve assessment of the chair, desk, placement of work equipment such as computers and its related accessories, and work environment factors such as lighting, ventilation etc. This exercise will commence on Monday December 1, 2014 immediately after the awareness and we hope to complete by Friday December 5, 2014.

We encourage all of you to attend the ergonomics awareness session as this will help you understand the process and know what to do before you suffer any ergonomic related problems. Please plan to attend.
