As you know, the 6th All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture (AACAA) is being held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from 27-30 October. Meeting every four years, the AACAA assembly provides a forum for researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to share scientific findings and experiences in animal agriculture in Africa and beyond. The theme of this year’s event is “Africa’s animal agriculture__ Macro-trends and future opportunities”.
To mark the occasion ILRI’s 40th anniversary, a special session is being organized on 28 October 2014 at the 6th AACAA to raise the profile of the livestock sector as well as to showcase the accomplishment of ILRI, its partners and forerunners . The session will articulate the large, and largely under-exploited, potential of livestock to significantly reduce poverty and transform livelihoods.
ILRI is providing its full support to this important conference. Senior scientists have participated in committees preparing for this conference, others will be presenting papers, or supporting conference logistics. In view of this involvement, and ILRI’s session, tomorrow transport will be available between ILRI and the conference venue departing as follows:
08.00hrs — ILRI Campus to KICC
(as soon as possible after the arrival of the morning buses)
20.00hrs — KICC to ILRI Campus
(immediately following the ILRI sponsored conference dinner)
Depending on the demand, we will also provide for transportation on Thursday 30 October.
If you are supporting the conference and normally use the ILRI buses to and from your home. We recommended that you continue to do so and request to be dropped at the Central Business District.
If however, you require transport well outside work hours. Please contact Teresa Werrhe-Abira at the Directorate who will facilitate this from your home-base to the conference venue only.
