ILRI Kenya: Delays in registration approvals for IRS’ duty free motor vehicles

Over the last several months, we have been experiencing difficulties in obtaining approvals for duty free vehicle registration at the Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This has led to protracted delays in registering the vehicles and thus obtaining logbooks from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). In the first week of this month, we held a meeting with concerned officials as the Ministry on the delays we are experiencing. They promised to get in touch in with the KRA officials on some issues that relate to the two offices before approving and releasing pending registration documents. So far the situation remains unresolved. Supply Chain unit is in constant touch with the Ministry and hope to get the issue resolved in the shortest time possible.

We are aware and regret that these delays are already inconveniencing vehicle owners who do not have proof of vehicle ownership, but we still request for your patience as we work on this matter.
Please feel free to contact either Anthony Warui a.warui (a.warui@cgiar.org), or Timothy Nyanamba (t.nyanamba@cgiar.org) for any clarifications or further information regarding the matter.
