Evalyne Nyawira: EOHS officer – research

Pleased to introduce you to Evalyne Nyawira who has accepted the position of Environment Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) Officer- Research beginning 1 October 2014. Evalyne has more than five years laboratory and field experience having worked in other ILRI projects in Nairobi and Busia. Before joining EOHS, she worked with the food safety and zoonosis group where she was responsible for the screening of all the serum samples collected from livestock and humans for the key zoonotic diseases being studied (including brucellosis, Rift Valley fever, coxiellosis and leptospirosis) using ELISA tests. She has also contributed to the development of the DDDAC project reports and the development of new concept notes. She also worked with the Infectious Diseases of East African Livestock (IDEAL) project as a research technician where she was responsible for coordinating laboratory activities. Evalyne has a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Egerton University and a Master’s degree in Veterinary Tropical Diseases from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
