Internal communications, email messages, update

Further to Martin’s message on emails and internal communications, here are a few tips and reminders.

  1. All staff can send an email message to ILRIAnnouncements These messages are automatically published on http://announcements.ilri.org where you can see them. Please bookmark this link and visit it at your convenience.
  2. These messages can be of any type. So if, as was shared from ICRAF staff today, you want to share information about a new pet in Kenya, you can do that on the blog without all staff getting an email. However, please do not share your individual travel or leave plans through this mechanism (use the out of office function); Similarly, when you travel, you can say who is delegated to act for you via the out of office message.
  3. All these messages are also published on the ILRInet home page (http://ilrinet.ilri.cgiar.org). You need to login.
  4. They are also published through the internal version of the ILRI web site (https://www.ilri.org/user). You need to login.
  5. And … they are also published to the ILRInet group on Yammer. You need to login. This allows easy commenting, replies and the like.

The BIG change is that you can choose where to read messages directed to many staff. All staff can still send messages and announcements to all staff. All staff can choose which ones to read. We avoid filling up everyone’s mailboxes with message they might not want to get.

Official institutional messages that are important for all staff will still be sent by email to all staff.

If you cant remember the web link, you can also choose to receive these messages in your email box. To do this, you need to subscribe to alerts using the following link. After you sig up you will receive an email that you will have to confirm.

Finally, you can also choose to post a message on Yammer (which provides for more interaction)– directly or by email:

  • ILRInet group: ilrinet+cgiar.org
  • Addis campus group: addiscampus+cgiar.org
  • Kenya campus group: ilrikenyacampus+cgiar.org
