Ephrem Tesema has been appointed as a Gender Expert in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 1 January 2013. Ephrem holds PHD in Social Anthropology from University of Basel, MA & BA degree in Social Anthropology and Foreign Language and Literature from Addis Ababa University. Before Joining as a regular staff he was working as a Consultant in ILRI LIVES Project.

Parmilia Yeshitella has been appointed as a Program Assistant in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 1 January 2013. Parmilia holds MSc degree in Business Information Technology, Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and BSc degree in Computer, Mathematics and Electronics from University of Mysore. Before Joining as a regular staff she was working as a Program Assistant on a temporary basis in ILRI LIVES Project.

Fanos Mekonnen has been appointed as a Knowledge Management and Communication Expert in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 1 January 2013. Fanos holds MSc degree in Management of Agro-ecological Knowledge and Social Change from Wageningen University and BSc degree in Animal Production and Rangeland Management from Debub University. Before Joining as a regular staff she was working as a Consultant in ILRI LIVES Project.

Mekdes Sime has been appointed as a Senior Administrative Assistant in International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) effective 14 January 2013. Mekdes has Diploma in Foreign Language and Literature (English) Addis Ababa University and Secretarial Science and Office Management from Addis Ababa University College of Commerce. Before joining ICRAF she was working as a Team Assistant – Short Term Consultancy in World Bank – Ethiopia Country office.

Yilkal Beza has been appointed as a Driver in International Potato Center (CIP) effective 8 February 2013. Yilkal has a valid 3rd driving license. Before joining CIP as a regular staff he was working as a driver on a Temporary Contract basis in International Potato Center (CIP).

Tesfaye Shiferaw has been appointed as a Research Assistant IV-Global Conservation Agriculture Program in International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) effective 20 February 2013. Tesfaye holds MSc degree in Agro ecology from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, MSc degree in Tropical Forestry and Management from Dresden University of Technology, MSc degree in Agroforestry from Bangor University and BSc degree in Plant Production and Dryland Farming from Debub University. Before joining CIMMYT he worked as a Lecturer/Researcher in Ambo University.

Leulsegged Kassa has been appointed as a Research Officer I in International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) – Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) effective 21 February 2013. Leulsegged holds MSc degree in Agriculture (Agricultural Economics) from Haramaya University and BSc degree in Natural Resource Economics and Management. Before joining IFPRI-ESARO he worked as a Research Assistant/Survey Coordinator in Ethiopian Economic Association.

Demewoz Negera has been appointed as a Research Assistant IV-Global Maize Program in International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) effective 26 February 2013. Demewoz holds BSc degree in Crop Production from Ambo University and Diploma in General Agriculture from Ambo College of Agriculture. Before joining CIMMYT he worked as a Assistant Researcher I In Ethiopia Institute of Agricultural Research.

Simret Yasabu has been appointed as a Research Communications Specialist in Africa Rising Program effective 11 March 2013. Simret holds MA degree in Journalism and Communications from Addis Ababa University, BA degree in Political Science and International Relations from Addis Ababa University and Diploma in Radio Journalism from Gimlekollen School of Journalism and Communications. Before joining ILRI she worked as a Young Lives Communications Coordinator in Save the Children International.

Zeleke Mekuriaw has been appointed as a Regional Expert-Livestock in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 14 March 2013. Zeleke holds PHD in Animal Science from University of the Free State, MSc & BSc degree in Agriculture (Animal Production and Animal Science) from Alemaya University. Before joining ILRI he worked as an Associate Professor in Debre Tabor University.

Abule Ebro has been appointed as a Regional Coordinator-Livestock in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 22 March 2013. Abule holds PHD in Grassland Science from University of Orange Free State, MSc degree in Animal Production from Alemaya University and BSc degree in Animal Sciences from Addis Ababa University. Before joining ILRI he worked as a Senior Researcher in Oromia Agricultural Research Institute Adami Tulu Agricultural Research Center.

 

Yayneshet Tesfay has been appointed as a Regional Expert-Livestock in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 1 April 2013. Yayneshet holds PHD in Animal Sciences from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, MSc degree in Rural Resources Management from University of Wales and BSc degree in Animal Sciences from Alemaya University. Before joining ILRI he worked as an Assistant Professor in Mekelle University.

Tadelle Dessie has been appointed as a Scientist –Animal Genetics/Breeding effective 1 April 2013. He has more than 20 years experience in teaching, research and development in various national and international research and development organizations. He has a PhD in Animal Genetics and Breeding from Humboldt University of Berlin in Germany and an MSc in Sustainable Tropical Animal Production Systems from Swedish University of Agriculture in Sweden. During the last 8 years of service at ILRI, Tadelle has worked as a Senior Research Officer, where he has been involved in the areas of knowledge management, capacity building and implemented projects, which are of research for development in nature and served the institute at various capacities. Tadelle is from Ethiopia.

 

Tigist Woldehanna has been appointed as a Technical Assistant in Feed and Forages Biosciences – Forage Diversity in ILRI effective 17 April 2013. Tigist holds Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from Africa Medical College. Before joining as a regular employee she was working as a Technical Assistant on a Temporary Contract basis in ILRI Forage Diversity.

 

 

Tekle Hundessa has been appointed as a Technical Assistant in Feed and Forages Biosciences – Forage Diversity in ILRI effective 17 April 2013. Tekle holds Diploma in Plant Science from Asella Agricultural Technical Vocational Education and Training College. Before joining ILRI he worked as a Research Technician Assistant II in Ethiopia Institute of Agricultural Research – Holetta Agricultural Center.

Kassahun Melaku has been appointed as a Driver in International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) effective 1 May 2013. Kassahun holds Diploma Electronics Technology and has a valid 5th grade driving license. Before joining ICARDA he worked as a Driver in ILRI Transport unit.

Tesfaye Dubale has been appointed as a Zonal Coordinator in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 9 May 2013. Tesfaye holds MSc degree in Irrigation and Water Management from Wageningen University and BSc degree in Agriculture (Plant Science) from Addis Ababa University. Before joining ILRI he worked as an Acting Head of Hawassa Plant Health Laboratory at South Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional State (SNNPRS), Bureau of Agriculture.

Henok Abiye has been appointed as a Senior Human Resources Assistant on Consultancy contract in Human Resources effective May 6, 2013. Henok holds a BA degree in Public Administration and Development Management from Addis Ababa University and Diploma in Human Resources from Addis Ababa University School of Commerce. Before joining ILRI, he was working as a Manager, HR Optimization and Leadership Development in ZTE Corporation – Ethiopia/ Telecommunications. Henok will be required to assist recruitment and induction related activities.

 

Tadios Tekalign has been appointed as a Senior Human Resources Assistant on Consultancy contract in Human Resources effective May 6, 2013. Tadios holds a BA degree in Public Administration from Addis Ababa University. Before he joined ILRI, he was working as a Human Resources Assistant in International Organization for Migration (IOM). Tadios will be responsible to assist in compensation & benefits, performance management & training & development initiatives.

Addisu Abera has been appointed as a Zonal Coordinator in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 14 May 2013. Addisu holds MSc & BSc degree in Animal Breeding and Production from Alemaya University. Before joining ILRI he worked as a Livestock Research Associate II in Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research.

 

Tesfaye Shewage has been appointed as a Zonal Coordinator in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 21 May 2013. Tesfaye holds MSc degree in Agriculture (Range Ecology and Management) from Haramaya University and BSc degree in Agriculture (Animal Science) from Alemaya University. Before joining ILRI he worked as a Natural Resource Management Officer in Haramaya Oxfam GB.

Yoseph Mekasha has been appointed as a Regional Coordinator-Livestock in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 22 May 2013. Yoseph holds PHD in Reproduction from Swedish University of Agricultural Science, MSc and BSc degree in Agriculture (Animal Production & Animal Science) from Alemaya University. Before joining ILRI he worked as an Associate Professor in Haramaya University.

 

Haile Tilahun has been appointed as a Zonal Coordinator in Livestock and Irrigation Value-Chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) Project effective 27 May 2013. Haile holds MSc degree in Rural Development from National University of Ireland, MSc and BSc degree in Rural Development & Dry Land Agriculture (Crop Science) from Mekelle University. Before joining ILRI he worked as a Head of Agricultural and Rural Development in Bureau of Tigray Agriculture and Rural Development.
