Today, we sent a ‘final’ draft of the ILRI strategy (2013-2o22) to the ILRI Board of Trustees. We are also making this version available to ILRI staff, partners and other stakeholders.
The document sets out ILRI’s proposed:
- Purpose
- Roles
- Strategic issues ILRI needs to address
- Three strategic objectives
- Five critical success factors to achieving this strategy
Alongside this document, we will develop a series of ‘operational plans’ guiding activities in specific areas.
- Download the final draft strategy (PDF)
- Read a collated summary of the feedback provided by external partners and stakeholders as part of this process
- See notes and reports from the internal consultations
If you have any final suggestions or feedback, please click the ‘leave a comment‘ option above – We aim to have a final final document by 1 October 2012
The strategy looks fine, it’s broad-brush (as it should be) and based on multiple rounds of internal and external feedback.
Now the crux of the matter is to get more operational. In the nitty-gritty details there might be a lot more comments coming up e.g. I look forward to hear more details about:
– How ILRI will be developing alternative fund-raising pathways (I would really favour more big proposals, while keeping some small project proposals open for innovative areas, but not for established work).
– How ILRI intends to improve its internal communication – beyond stating the obvious ‘we need to improve it’…
– How ILRI is thinking about strengthening its partnership base – where, on what basis, for how long, around what themes / initiatives etc.
– What practical steps ILRI management and HR are thinking of to ensure acquisition, retention and development of quality staff…
Thanks for sharing and for the transparency so far.
Ewen
The strategy looks fine but i have not seen any risk assessment that has been done on the strategy to pin point what can prevent ILRI from achieving the strategy, how the risks will be managed???
