Dear Colleagues
You’ll have noticed the strategy process gaining some momentum in recent days! Firstly, let me say a big thank you to everyone who has already contributed comments or helped to share the story line and tough issues with partners.
We want to give you as much opportunity as possible to contribute to the strategy, in a way that will not be too demanding of your time, recognizing also that this is ILRI’s strategy and in that respect, we’d hope that everyone will want to play a part.
We have engaged George Levvy of Compass Partnerships to help us with this phase of the strategy process, and George will be visiting ILRI in the coming couple of weeks (23-27 May in Nairobi; 28-31 May in Addis).
We plan to take advantage of having someone from outside of ILRI with us to have some discussions about our strategy that we hope will be of interest to everyone. In this respect, we’ve constituted (randomly) some cross-ILRI groups to meet and have short conversations about ILRI’s vision, mission and the sorts of principles ILRI should include in its research and work place.
If you’ve not yet done so, please have a look at our story line and some questions on tough issues (on value chains ; on livestock productivity ; on animal and human health) around the strategy, and share with us your thoughts. We are getting useful feedback on these from external people so please give us your views.
We are also looking for feedback on three sets of ‘internal‘ questions posed by Delia, Mario, and An:
Taking our work on human health and nutrition forward
Research on livestock and the environment – how much should ILRI do?
Many, many thanks, we look forward to exciting and productive discussions in the coming weeks
